Job Summary Work independently on mineral processing and characterization projects while actively contributing to cross-functional teams. Work with chemical additives including dispersants, grinding aids, rheology modifiers and binders in processes such as wet grinding, dry grinding, surface modification, spray drying, slurry stabilization, granulation and high-temperature mineral expansion. Independently generate, collect and review process and characterization data to compile scientific information for decision-makers in the company. Demonstrate strong process understanding to identify improvement opportunities, implement innovative technologies and methods, and drive continuous operational excellence. Guide and support technicians, technologists, and associate scientists by assigning work packages, providing technical assistance during process execution and sample characterization, and ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of generated data. Accountabilities Effectively translates stakeholders and superiorsâ requests into well-defined work packages, supported by a solid understanding of processes and operational constraints Plans, executes, and analyses experiments Guides and supports technicians in their daily tasks Provides troubleshooting support to production plants as needed Maintain accurate documentation, prepare reports, technical summaries and procedures Communicates clearly and effectively with diverse technical audiences, both internally and externally Collaborates cross-functionally for technical solutions in new product development and process optimization Demonstrates technical competency by developing value-creating solutions when presented with problems of defined scope and impact Understands trends and technical needs Uses Omya IP processes for protecting value Consistently demonstrates the highest SHE standards and lives by the Omya values. Requirements University Degree in Science or Engineering Field Good command of both oral and written English and German Minimum 3 years of relevant experience Demonstrated knowledge in an appropriate natural scientific discipline and a willingness to do practical laboratory work Ability to work independently and display innovative thinking Ability to work in a team Consistently applies the scientific method or statistical design processes Good project management skills Understanding of data-driven approaches, including AI and machine learning, is preferred Occasional travel may be required Willingness to work primarily on-site, with up to one day per week of remote work Omya is a leading global producer of industrial minerals and a worldwide distributor of specialty materials.
